Mayor Mary Manross Launches Re-election Campaign

SCOTTSDALE, AZ - November 12, 2007 - Mayor Mary Manross has filed papers establishing her re-election campaign committee, Scottsdale for Manross 2008. In 2004 Manross won a landslide re-election, capturing over 66% of the vote with backing by the Scottsdale Area Chamber, Scottsdale Police, Sierra Club, U.S. Senator John McCain, Scottsdale Republic, COPP, Bridle and Bit, Jackie Drinkwater and other community leaders.

Manross's campaign theme in 2008 "It's a Bright New Day in Scottsdale" emphasizes the unprecedented renaissance that is taking place throughout Scottsdale. In a written statement Manross underscores the basis of her campaign theme.

"We are truly a community where the Old West meets the New West; working to preserve our historic past while building Scottsdale's sustainable future. A clear vision and an unwavering commitment to building a bridge to the future are paying huge dividends for Scottsdale. The clouds of uncertainty that hung over our city just eight short years ago have been lifted and Scottsdale's future has never been brighter. Today is a time of tremendous confidence, enthusiasm, and momentum.

Today there is an all-time record $3.1 billion dollars of new private and public investment underway in downtown and southern Scottsdale alone. A true revitalization and renaissance is in full swing. Downtown, the Waterfront, South Bridge, Valley Ho and surrounding developments are bringing an unprecedented vitality to our city. Scottsdale's downtown is, today, both a regional and national draw and the opening of the new W Hotel and other excellent projects underway will certainly add to our now thriving community.
